The Pepin County Friendly Visitor Program is available to seniors who may be living by themselves, disabled, or just wish to have some companionship, or assistance to continue to live independently. Must be a resident of Pepin County.
Through this program seniors and volunteers are matched based upon similar interests, hobbies, and demographics.
Possible activities for seniors and volunteers to engage in are: -Medication reminders -Playing games/cards -Writing letters -Picking up mail -Making meals -Setting hair -Painting nails -Paying bills -Visiting -Daily phone calls
Friendly
Visitor Seniors are seniors who may be living by themselves,
disabled, or just wish to have a friend who visits them on a regular basis. This
program is FREE to all citizens of Pepin County.
Senior’s
Responsibilities:
-Complete
an application form
-Meet
with the Volunteer Coordinator
-Meet
their potential friend and decide if the match will be successful
-Contact
the Volunteer Coordinator with any problems or concerns
Friendly
Visitor Volunteer contacts
their senior friend on a regular basis. This
contact can be in the form of a visit to their home, a telephone call, or a
combination of both. The type of
contact and the frequencies are determined on an individual basis. Friendly Visitors do not need to spend money on activities or
presents. The purpose of the
program is to provide seniors with regular companionship.
Volunteer’s
Responsibilities:
-Have
reliable transportation
-Complete
an application form
-Meet
with the Volunteer Coordinator
-Meet
the person they are to be matched with and then decide if the match will be
successful
-Fill
out monthly reports on visits
-Contact
the Volunteer Coordinator with any problems or concerns
