Who We Serve & Availability
Priority is given to individuals 60+ and people with disabilities.
Transportation services are available seven days a week including some holidays, based on driver availability. Transportation is provided for all purposes such as medical, social, and personal business. Trips are provided to many surrounding areas, counties and Minnesota.
Requests must be made 3 days in advance whenever possible.

**Please Note: As of November 1, 2021, Veyo is Wisconsin's non-emergency medical transportation manager and is arranging transportation to covered appointments for Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus members. Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus Members should call 866-907-1493 or TTY 800-855-2880 to schedule rides. To file a complaint about Veyo, please call 866-436-0457.
Types of Transportation
The transportation program has several types of vehicles:
- Automobiles- Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles or county van drivers can use a county vehicle mini van
- Specialized Motor Vehicles (SMV) - ramp equipped, handicap accessible van
- Mini Bus - lift equipped handicap accessible bus
Cost-Share Program
The cost of providing transportation is divided between the passenger and county/state transportation funds. Eligible passengers pay a co-payment that is determined by income, with the county/state subsidy covering the rest of the cost. Please contact our office for an application and more information.
Passengers using the wheelchair vans, or mini bus, are charged an hourly rate for drivers plus mileage. Tipping is not allowed. This is a county policy. Instead, a passenger can donate to the Transportation Program.
Eligibility
Persons are eligible for transportation services if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Reside in Buffalo or Pepin Counties
- Are ages 60 or older or have a disability
Driver Qualifications
Drivers receive training in defensive driving, first aid, passenger assistance techniques, and other related topics. Also, drivers must have and maintain a good driving record, proper insurance coverage, and good physical health. County van drivers are Pepin County employees, and are certified in First Aid and CPR.

Family Care, IRIS or DVR members: We need a prior authorization on file to schedule any transportation. Please first contact your Worker or Care Manager to arrange authorization to provide transportation.
