Emergency Management

Pepin County Emergency Management is responsible for the coordination of emergency planning, training, response and recovery efforts in the midst of major disasters that require involvement by multiple county departments.  Our office uses an all hazards approach to planning and response to major disasters.  Pepin County Emergency Management works with local municipalities, state and federal agencies and the private sector to prepare, respond and recover from natural or man-made disasters in an effort to minimize the loss of lives and property.

Public awareness campaigns are generally delivered through the local newspaper, social media, schools, and community events.  Brochures are also available in the Pepin County Government Center.  Residents and frequent visitors are encouraged to sign up for Nixle, which provides public safety messages when severe weather, natural disasters, or emergencies occur within Pepin County.

Due to the rural nature of Pepin County, we strongly encourage residents to purchase a weather radio as people in most areas cannot hear the tornado sirens located in Durand and Pepin.

Below you will find links to emergency government plans which are applicable to the county.
