Property Tax Payment

The Pepin County Treasurer is encouraging residents who pay their property tax bills by mail to be aware of a US Postal Service policy change that may affect when envelopes are postmarked.  To avoid late payments, mail your payment well before the due date or physically bring your payment into the post office and request that they postmark your envelope in front of you.

Current tax year: Full Payment or First Installment payment

Payable to:   Local Municipal Treasurer

See your tax bill for correct mailing address. Contact your local treasurer for payment location, options and hours

Due Date: On or Before January 31

Second Installment and Delinquent Payments

  • Payments options:
    In person at the Pepin County Treasurer’s Office Room 114
  • A drop box for your convenience is located near the entrance of the Pepin County Government Center in Lot 3 off Oakwood Drive.
  • Send payment by mail, payable to:

          Pepin County Treasurer
          P. O. Box 39
          Durand, WI  54736

  • Note: Payments made by mail must be postmarked no later than July 31st to avoid delinquency status and/or charges.
  • Pay taxes online through Pepin County Public Portal 

Note: Value Payment Systems (VPS) charges a Convenience fee for online payments:

o   $1.50 for eCheck per transaction

o   2.39% for credit card transactions

o   $3.95 for debit card transactions

 

Delinquent Real Estate Taxes

• Are subject to interest of 1% per month (fraction of a month counts as a whole month) from February 1 until paid, and an additional .25% penalty charge per month

CRITICAL ASSISTANCE FOR TAXPAYERS

Critical Assistance for Taxpayers Assistance is available to Pepin County taxpayers to receive funds through the Foundation for Rural Housing if you are (2) two years behind with property taxes. Grants are also available for mortgage payments and individuals who are renting and currently facing eviction. Certain guidelines and income limits apply.
